Celtic ring South Africa
Claddegh Rings and Celtic Rings

Celtic Wedding Rings are very popular amongst the younger couples. This is quite strange as these Celtic rings are from an age gone by. Perhaps it is because young married couples are looking for meaning and substance in their lives and in their relationships. The glitz of a meaningless wedding with all the stress and pressure can be overwhelming - The simple promise of the Claddagh ring for a wedding band is an anchor to any marriage. These wedding rings incorporate the claddegh and Celtic knot work.calddagh_ and_celtic_ring

With the "throw away" mentality of our modern age, symbols and their meanings are playing an important role in peoples lives. The meaning of Claddagh ring symbols are "with these hands I thee hold, with this heart I thee love and with this crown I thee honour. Lovely sentiments indeed. And with divorce and abuse rife all over the world, this motto is certainly a powerful message or ideal to base ones marriage upon.

Claddagh rings, Claddegh rings and even Cladaugh rings as it is sometimes spelt, is as Irish as it comes. The ring is worn with the the heart towards your heart if you are engaged, or the other way around if you are merely friends or still looking for a special person.

Combined with celtic knotwork, the celtic wedding rings make a fine matching Celtic wedding band set. Stones can also be added to use the Celtic design as a Celtic Engagement ring.

Hand worked in White gold and yellow gold, this two tone wedding ring set is really beautiful. The knot work weaves in and out with no end - forming a perfect bond - as should any marriage.

The inside is highly polished and can be custom engraved with a message or a date to make these Celtic wedding rings personal and special. They are made in our workshops in South Africa by qualified goldsmiths.

The hands in the ring hold the heart. The hands symbolise friendship and togetherness. The heart signifies love and the crown in the claddagh ring represents loyalty. It is the meaning of the claddagh rings which makes them so popular, They can be worn for many occasions including wedding rings, birth stone rings, engagement rings, mothers day rings and rings for any  occasion where friendship , loyalty and respect are important. The deeper  meaning of the Irish claddagh ring is sometimes called a faith ring.

Meaning and significance of the Claddagh ring is in the crown, heart and clasping hands.Which hand the ring is worn and the direction in which the crown on the ring points. If you are a married or engaged couple, the Claddagh ring is worn on the left hand with the crown pointing away from the (the person wearing the ring) heart.

For a person who is considering love,  the ring is traditionally worn on the right hand and the crown points away from the heart. For a person not interested in starting a relationship the Cladagh ring is worn on the right hand with the crown pointing towards the heart.

Irish wedding rings with Celtic knotwork make an ideal wedding ring or friendship ring. Crafted in South Africa in 2 colour of gold, these wedding bands have a deeper meaning. claddegh ring, claddagh ring, celtic ring, celtic engagement ring, celtic wedding band, symbols and meanings, Cladaugh rings, Irish wedding rings

Celtic Knot Work and Wedding Rings

claddagh_ring
We make Celtic bangles,Celtic  rings, Celtic pendants, Celtic knots and Celtic crosses amongst other fine jewelry.

I have a picture in my head of the Celts - probably inaccurate, definitely leaning toward honour, bravery, steadfastness... you know, boys stuff. The picture is full of glory and maidens, and strong just leadership - probably rubbish because to make in those days I reckon you had to be a pretty mean bastard - something like leadership today.

Enjoy the jewellery - I love the knots and patterns. What fascinates me is the time to do a knot - in the old days people must have had a huge amount of time on their hands. With today’s software it is a whole lot easier.celtic_cross_large_pendant

We work in a combination of metals - titanium, gold, silver, modern composites, platinum if I am pushed.

Above is the Claddagh ring - or Claddegh ring - I am not sure of the spelling - but we make it in 9ct gold, silver and 18ct gold.

Claddagh and Celtic knot work wedding ringThe line blurs with Runic Jewelry. Runes stones are found in many Celt references and they are used in combination with Celtic Knots and appear in Celtic mythology.

We make up our Celtic jewelry using white gold, platinum, titanium, red gold and yellow gold and sometimes palladium.

W
e use many processes and techniques in the manufacturing process, from hand carving in wax, to CNC cutting into composites. We use goldsmithing techniques that were used thousands of years ago and we use modern manufacturing skills. They both have their place and their expertise.

We manufacture here in South Africa - making Celtic bangles with knot work, Celtic rings and Celtic cuff links.celtic_knot_cuff_links_medium

Many of the combinations of design and metals are unique to that piece. If we are not making them it means they cannot be done, or are not cost effective. Of coure if you are prepared to spend some of your precious money/energy, I will, in return, make you something special.

CELTIC KNOT

The Celtic mystique, with its emphasis on the Otherworld,is widely quoted but little understood.
The Celts were aware of the Sidh, the tall, shining ones,or the opalescent, lit from within.

This paganism was subsumed in Christianity and the immediacy of the Otherworld receeded.

The Celtic Cross, with its recognisable shaft, arms and ring is embellished with intricate decorations which are representations of much older, cruder and very powerful symbols of basic life forces. This Cross, like others, has cross-cultural significance of Protection and Goodnesss.

The Celtic Knot is a reflection of the complexity of Self, the interconnectedness and never-ending cycle of life. As the mantra or rosary aid contemplation, so does focussing on the winding of the knot aid meditation.

The Celtic Knot is associated with Happy Love and Friendship.
